Tugs Soundside Taphouse & Brewery proudly became the first dedicated Hatteras Island brewery, filling a long-empty spot on the craft beer map of the Outer Banks.
Located in Avon, North Carolina, on the shores of the Pamlico Sound, Tugs was built to be more than just another taproom. It’s a community gathering place where locals and visitors come together over great beer, wine, live music, and unforgettable sunsets.

THE REALIZATION OF A DREAM
A Dream Years in the Making
Owner and brewer Travis Murray began homebrewing in 1999 and spent years refining his craft while imagining what a true Avon NC brewery could become.
After making Hatteras Island home, Travis and his wife Sherry seized the opportunity to create a destination that celebrates both exceptional beer and the island lifestyle they love.

Today, Tugs stands as the culmination of that vision.
